PostSubject: The Real Life Concept of Mana/Ether/etc.   Tue Dec 16, 2008 8:46 pm

So a month or so ago I was mulling this idea around in my head, as is usual for me, and I got to thinking about what mana would be to us in our world. Ye-ah, Mana is a term used for magic in video games, but just because it is doesn't mean it is not existent within our realm of existence.

It may have a different name in our realm but nonetheless it will most likely work the same. Mana is Mana no matter if you call it Eather/Ether, chi, ki, or what have you. I'm sure one thing people can agree on is that Mana/Ether is the energy within all things whether living or dead, dark matter and all. When we cast our magic we tap into the Ether and call it forth from within us to direct and shape it as we will it.

Now uh...let me kind of get back on track. My idea was this, if the above concept is applied and used in our world as I may believe it is and we look at worlds such as (and this is for example people) World of Warcraft how is it people learn to use magic in their world? What do some individuals do differently that opens them up for divine channeling, so to speak. So I was thinking, perhaps it is simply that some individuals have opened themselves up to the Ether or the energy of all existence and in doing so how do they regulate the flow of energy in their body to keep it stable? Is it automatic and without a thought? Or does it take them casting at least a spell on a daily basis to maintain stability?

For those who don't use/open themselves to the Ether what makes them different? Is it just because it was their choice to not let themselves to be open to the flow of the universe? I think that one is more closer to truth the anything, because the same concept can be applied to our world as well.

But when I was thinking of this concept I thought about a Reiki practitioner/master. If someone who wants to practice Reiki has to be attuned for it, who says that can't be accomplished without a master? After all the very first student was attuned by the universe itself, so who says it can't be done again? And if Reiki works in this way, what about all the information I have provided above? I cast magic and it is because I reach deep within myself to tap into the universal energy in all things. Does that mean I am attuned? I don't know and at this point I have no proper way of testing these ideas without first a theory and then a way to test.

Crazy huh?

interesting concepts
we all really have axcess to this flow of magic really
some choose to ignore it and work on their own abilities
some embrace it and follow a path
some twist it and use it for their own dark puposes
(like my warlock on wow >.> )

and some are like me
they have that undercurrent flowing through them all the time
but do nothing overt...
its there, not really enhancing abilities...
but just there... >.> pulsing

Yes; very much so. I look at mine currently like a river. When I need to access or use my river I draw up from it and divert the flow to flood my entire body for more efficient spell casting and the like.

And yes; I do believe it all comes down to choice. If you chose to grow and develop your muscles do they not grow? The same principal we can also apply to magic. If you wish to work with it and willingly open yourself to it, you can.

As for the people who say magic doesn't exist, it just doesn't awaken in them. That is their choice they shut themselves off from it, but...Miracles are just like magic only...most likely, the case in miracles are due more to the volume/number of people praying and such. Prayer after all is a form of casting, people just don't like accepting that. XD

hmm never felt that
iv never felt alot.. i seem to be a martyr these days
giving up my own will for anothers...
another matter...

i kinda look at it both as a river and like what one series of books put it
think of magic as if its everywhere, it is, but they are like strings, chords, you can reach out and twist... i sense the chords but i know they are flowing like a river....

so basicly there are like streams of water everywhere? meh, you see what im saying

Being a Martyr is a choice my friend and though I feel I am this at times, I know and understand that the Lord and Lady guide me and the paths they open up and lead me to only help to encourage my spiritual/magic, mental, and physical development.

That concept also works relatively well. You really do have to just reach out and pull/bend the cord of water to your will and let it flow and fill you. Magic is everywhere my friend, it's just a matter of reaching out to it.

OH MY GODDESS! SOMEONE ELSE WHO HAS READ THAT BOOK SERIES! Oh yes I know it well! and the wizards being melted with soapy/lemony water was just too damn funny. Makes me want to see Neil Gaiman put a spin on it and help turn it into a movie. XD

But yes; I do understand.

Well from what I understand sometimes when we suffer most we are rewarded in the end with something incredible. My Beloved and I are having to make a sacrifice in the near future in order to gain the outcome we wish to see. Neither of us likes the choices that must be made, but for our dream...it must be done.

for your dream....
thank you... in that light... it helps
but that doesnt mean each moment isnt agony....
it just shows a light at the end

haha you have read that series? im only like 1/2 thru the book, years ago, and started reading something else. good book, but i got distracted. there some scorceror in there that is like king of the forrest or what not and can transport between locations be twisting the threads of magic. that concept has always kinda stuck with me

but really... concepts are just that. just like religion. it varies from person to person, as does reality, so it makes it hard to pin down

Indeed. Everyone's paradigm is different.
