The Gods Were Human Once Empty
PostSubject: The Gods Were Human Once   The Gods Were Human Once EmptySat May 03, 2008 9:20 pm

In my pursuit of obtaining knowledge to prove how some of the unknown world is truly known in some form, I have come to realize a finding of great importance. Though my current love provided me with the seeds, watching shows such as Stargate SG-1 continued to nurture those seeds so they would grow. In the series the SG-1 team proves in their travels and adventures through the Stargate that most of our known gods physically existed however their spin to this is that these physically existent gods were in fact alien or inhabited by alien parasites such as the so very common and infamous Goules.
In my studies and research on the Celts/Druids, Hindus, and other various world cultures I have noticed an interesting trend in regards to the idea that Stargate SG-1 presents as to, "The gods were human once".
Now it has always been my belief/philosophy that when it comes to legend/myth/lore that there is some truth to these tales. It is merely a matter of digging and taking pieces bit by bit that we find the truth in what lies beneath the stories we consider myth, fantasy, and fairy tale. Coming back to the Celts, in the myths' I have read on the Celtic gods, too often have I seen how the stories make you feel like none of the events of legend/lore/myth could have occurred without the gods being physically there in person...in other words, they were mortal at some point but had extraordinary abilities/powers/gifts/etc or at least that is what people thought. I know the whole thought of such "gifts" is a bit of a stretch for a logical minded skeptic, I can completely understand and even sympathize to a degree with them, but the fact of the matter remains, there is far too much hinting at the fact the gods seemed to have been on our physical plain at some point in physical nature. Hinting, true enough, might not be enough evidence for some, but when there is so much of it mentioned in various stories it does make wonder.
I know two things that keep us from proving some of these fairly good hypothesize is the factual evidence/findings of the existence of the Tuatha De Dannan, Firblogs, and even some of the other races that had previously inhabited Ireland before hand. Without these races to help piece the bigger puzzle together it all does seem rather a stretch and possibly even far-fetched.
However a good example of a physical born god is The Buddha. Though the Buddhists would/will argue otherwise that they do not believe the Buddha to be a god, he is certainly treated as such and has in some way attained "God-like" status to say the least(The Life of Buddha).

To be continued...

I'm not quite finished with my research yet. My next topic to cover was going to be the Hindu gods, the Babylonian, and the Mayan/Aztec considering they were all polytheistic cultures. Oai...this is too much work in my opinion for one person alone. I might as well be writing a thesis or something.

I was hoping my Beloved would volunteer to give me a hand, but if you'd like to I'd greatly appreciate it.

PostSubject: Re: The Gods Were Human Once   The Gods Were Human Once EmptySat May 23, 2009 4:23 pm

Here is an entry I posted on Paganspace.net that I felt I should add here since we have been discussing it, more specifically Twilight and I.

I've been working on a little side project off and on about proving in some of the cultures with polytheistic beliefs that the gods that we know and worship at some point did infact live amongst us at one point or another in history. I haven't finished my argument yet because I still have yet to cover the Norse gods and Hindu gods. This however is not my story today. No; what I wish to present today is this.

It is my firm belief that among all pieces of legend, folklore/lore, and myth there is some shred of truth/fact. Whether or not it has been embellished by those who have told the stories a thousand or million times over. It is my solemn duty to try and find these shreds of tapestry missing from our history and piece them back together.

While my evidence right now is circumstancial the point remains thus:
If Ogma was the original creator of the Ogham Alphabet and he was considered a Champion (note that I did not say the only Champion) among the Tuatha Dé Danann and they in turn also used his Alphabet to read, write, and maybe even record their history and their known world's history, despite we have no physical evidence of their existence (aside from say like the Alphabet) and if we go off the basis that the legendary Ogma did indeed live amongst us being among humans or Fae/Sidhe, whichever one, and the Tuatha Dé Danann did some inter-racial mingling with the Celts after they were conquered by the Celts would they not have taught their families this same language/alphabet? It is said that the Ogham Alphabet is the "Alphabet of the Trees" but not only that it was used by the Druids as well as the Celts to be carved into rocks, wood, and wands. So who is to stay now that the Tuatha Dé Danann did not exist if they helped bring about this Alphabet to the Celts, through one of their important figures (Ogma) and not only that gave them a writing system which I believe would pre-date some of our historical records of just whenabouts they began to supposedly use writing. While keeping the accuracy of history and the like was a favored Oral tradition among the Druids and Celts, who is to say they did not have records of spells, rituals, or historical accounts of history of their known world? While it seems like a rather good healthy dose of speculation it does have some form of chronology with how I have now organized it.

If anyone else has other information they would like to add feel free to add a comment with said information and the like.

what i would like to say, is to point out something that you have now presented. if the ancient oral traditions, as well as ogham carvings or writings, could be decyphered, perhaps through them the roots we are looking for could be traced? it still wouldn't be undisputable proof, but it would have much more of an impact than embellished myths i am sure. ^_^

I think that would depend on what the Druids and Celts decided to carve into those stones, wands, and wood that they considered important enough to write down. It also comes down to what they valued or found valuably enough to scribe. That's why understanding the entirty of the true functions of ogham is so important right now as well.
